Synopsis: Company ABC has a Fingerprint Bio-Clock where employees scan in and out during their shift. Employees are provided a 10 minute grace period before and after their start and end times to resolve early or late clock in or clock out times. John Citizen is hired by Company ABC as a Full-Time employee who works Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 8:30 am to 5:30 pm and takes one 30 minute unpaid break which can be taken at any time during his shift. If John finishes work after 5:30 pm, the first two hours are paid at time and a half. If John then works after 7:30 pm, he is paid at double time. Every Friday John works from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm with no unpaid breaks. If John finishes work after 1:00 pm, these hours are then ‘banked’ as Time in Lieu. For every shift John works that are longer than 3 hours, he is also paid a Laundry Allowance.

Monday to Thursday Shift

  • Shift Profile

    • Floating Breaks? : John does not have a stipulated unpaid break start and end time, therefore this setting is ticked.
    • Fixed Shift (Time of Day): As Johns shifts have a stipulated Start and End time, Fixed Shift (Time of Day) will be completed.
    • Break 1: Although John does not have a stipulated unpaid break start and end time, these fields need to be completed so that in the event that John forgets to clock in and clock out for his unpaid break, e-Award™ will be able to insert this unpaid period at the designated time.
    • Add Break Scans if none found and total shift hours is equal or more than XX:XX hours?: In the event that John forgets to clock in and clock out for his unpaid break, e-Award™ will be able to insert this unpaid period at the designated time. Therefore this setting is ticked.
  • Pay Type Allocation
    • Pay Rates
    • Base: As Johns award stipulates his hourly rate, Award Rate is selected.
    • Allocation 2: If John finishes work after 5:30 pm, the first two hours are paid at time and a half. Therefore Pay Type 7 Time & Half is selected.
    • Allocation 3: If John finishes work after 7:30 pm, he is paid at double time. Therefore Pay Type 8 Double Time is selected.
  • Allowances
    • Allocation 1: For every shift John works that is longer than 3 hours, he is also paid a Laundry Allowance. Therefore Allowance 46 Laundry Allowance is selected.

Friday Shift

  • Shift Profile
    • Use Grace Period? : Employees are provided a 10 minute grace period before and after their start and end times to resolve early or late clock in or clock out times. Therefore this setting is ticked.
    • Fixed Shift (Time of Day): As Johns shifts have a stipulated Start and End time, Fixed Shift (Time of Day) will be completed.
  • Pay Type Allocation
    • Pay Rates
    • Base: As Johns award stipulates his hourly rate, Award Rate is selected.
    • Allocation 2: If John finishes work after 1:00 pm, these hours are then ‘banked’as Time in Lieu. Therefore Pay Type 36 TIL Accrued is selected.
  • Allowances
    • Allocation 1: For every shift John works that are longer than 3 hours, he is also paid a Laundry Allowance. Therefore Allowance 46 Laundry Allowance is selected.
