12.1.2.1.1.31.2. Tree – Control Governance

In the Tree Behavior tab of the Form / Behavior / Control window, users can configure properties that govern the functionality of tree controls.

!Please note that the Inline New and Inline Edit fields in this window are disabled for the tree control.

1. Enable Edit: This is a checkbox which, if selected, allows users to enable the Edit function for the tree.
   • If this checkbox is selected, it will enable the Edit Form field.
     • Edit Form: This is a single-select dropdown field that retrieves the list of form behaviors (from the Form Behavior section of the Forms module). It allows users to select the form behavior linked to the control’s ‘edit’ functionality.
       • To define a new form behavior, select the button.
         • It will display the Form Behavior Properties window.
       • To modify an existing form behavior, select the button.
       • To remove a form behavior, select the button.
         

         !!To set up the ‘Edit Form’, users only need to provide a name and a title.

*With Edit enabled, users can edit items or nodes in the tree using a modal window linked to the tree.

2. Enable New: This is a checkbox which, if selected, allows users to enable the Add function for the tree.
   • If this checkbox is selected, it will enable the New Form field.
     • New Form: This is a single-select dropdown field that retrieves the list of starter form behaviors (from the Form Behavior section of the Forms module). It allows users to select the form behavior linked to the control’s ‘new’ functionality.
       • To define a new form behavior, select the button.
         • It will display the Form Behavior Properties window.
       • To modify an existing form behavior, select the button.
       • To remove a form behavior, select the button.
         

         !!To set up the ‘New Form’, users only need to provide a name, a title, and select the Starter checkbox.

*With Add enabled, users can add items or nodes to the tree using a modal window linked to the tree.

3. Enable View: This is a checkbox which, if selected, allows users to enable the Show function for the tree.
   • If this checkbox is selected, it will enable the View Form field.
     • View Form: This is a single-select dropdown field that retrieves the list of form behaviors (from the Form Behavior section of the Forms module). It allows users to select the form behavior linked to the control’s ‘view’ functionality.
       • To define a new form behavior, select the button.
         • It will display the Form Behavior Properties window.
       • To modify an existing form behavior, select the button.
       • To remove a form behavior, select the button.

*With View enabled, users can view items or nodes in the tree using a modal window linked to the tree.

4. Enable Delete: This is a checkbox which, if selected, allows users to enable nodes to be deleted in the tree.
   • If this checkbox is selected, it will enable the Delete Form field.
     • Delete Form: This is a single-select dropdown field that retrieves the list of form behaviors (from the Form Behavior section of the Forms module). It allows users to select the form behavior linked to the control’s ‘delete’ functionality.
       • To define a new form behavior, select the button.
         • It will display the Form Behavior Properties window.
       • To modify an existing form behavior, select the button.
       • To remove a form behavior, select the button.
         

         !!Unless users need to add custom functionality when deleting, it is not necessary for them to set up the ‘Delete Form’. If users do need to add custom functionality when deleting, however, they will need to create the ‘Delete Form’ and then create a post-form action and attach it to the selected form behavior. It’s important to note that the pre-form actions of the delete form behavior will not be called.

5. Enable Import from Excel: This is a checkbox which, if selected, allows users to enable both the Excel Template and Import from Excel functions for the grid.
   • If this checkbox is selected, it will enable the Import Form field.
     • Import Form: This is a single-select dropdown field that retrieves the list of starter form behaviors (from the Form Behavior section of the Forms module). It allows users to select the form behavior linked to the control’s ‘inline add’ functionality.
       • To define a new form behavior, select the button.
         • It will display the Form Behavior Properties window.
       • To modify an existing form behavior, select the button.
       • To remove a form behavior, select the button.
         

         !!To set up the ‘Import Form’, users only need to provide a name, a title, and select the Starter checkbox.

*When this option is enabled, users can download an Excel template that contains the appropriate column headers for the control, and then populate the template with their data. Users can then upload the completed template into the control to import the data.

6. Enable Export from Excel: This is a checkbox which, if selected, allows users to enable the Export to Excel function for the grid.

*When this option is enabled, users can export the data from the control into an Excel file.

7. Enable Select: This is a checkbox which, if selected, allows users to enable the selection of tree data from another form using a dropdown control.

*When this option is enabled, users can interact with a tree displayed in a separate form and select items by double-clicking on them. The selected value will then be returned and populated in the associated dropdown control.

8. Apply: This button allows users to save their changes.
9. OK: This button allows users to save their changes and close the window.
10. Cancel: This button allows users to cancel their changes and close the window.
