A production run, though created with a Start Date, does not get scheduled automatically. The production team has to check the availability of inputs and resources, as well as production capacity on the shopfloor or with the Subcontractor, if any. In a real-life situation, several production runs may have been created for the broader purpose of capacity planning. Production Runs that are already running may face issues, such as unexpected material shortage, subcontract delivery delay or quality issues etc., which may delay their completion and freeing up of capacities.
That being the case, production teams will have to continuously review all planned production runs and update them. The first step with a production run is to schedule it. By scheduling, we mean that it is ready in all respects to start. Scheduling still does not mean start of a run.
To Schedule a run, click the Schedule link from the progress menu. The status of the run changes to ‘Scheduled’.
