A Production Run, also known as Production Order or Work Order, is the formal document declaring a production job. It has a Start Date and End Date. It lists the workcentre Routing Tasks in their assigned sequence, with the materials required for each task. It shows the total Run Time for every task and the availability in stock of the required materials. Thus, a Production Run serves as the authoritative proof of every job.

To initiate a Production Run, click Create Production Run on the Production Run home screen.

Once you choose the Product for the run and the Quantity to produce, you must choose the Facility where the components are available or usually stored. For easy reference, give it a proper long name. The Start Date is the actual date scheduled for the run, which can be today’s date or a future date. You can leave the parameter Dependent Production Run at default NO. This will change to YES, if any Production Runs are linked to this to precede or succeed it.

When you click Create, the workorder is saved.

A workorder can be in any of the six statuses, viz.

  1. Created – initial status
  2. Scheduled – after creation
  3. Confirmed – when the work order is released
  4. Running – when materials have been issued
  5. Completed – when all tasks have ended and production has been reported
  6. Cancelled – aborted or abandoned
