4. Low Impact Development

This example shows how to model two Low Impact Development (LID), filter strips and infiltration trenches, within SWMM. Unlike the previous Example 3, which focused on large-scale detention ponds, these LIDs work on a smaller scale and rely on infiltration and distributed storage to reduce runoff and improve water quality in a watershed. VOSWMM is well-suited for simulating these source controls. We’ll apply them to the same catchment area as Examples 1, 2, and 3.
