Introduction

In the event that lifeguard numbers are excessive for the number of swimmers lifeguards can restrict their shifts to ensure operational effectiveness. If this is the case the following is to take place.

Procedure

  1. The Southbank Lifeguard Supervisor under the advisement Lifeguard 9 is to make the decision whether lifeguards need to restrict their shifts as per the EA.
  1. The Lifeguard Supervisor or Lifeguard 9 is to designate lifeguard/s whose shift/s is to be restricted; ensuring that a minimum of 3 hours has been worked by the lifeguard/s and that the minimum manpower required can be met.
  1. Permission needs to be sought from Lifeguard Supervisor before any lifeguard leaves. Where the Southbank Lifeguard Supervisor is not contactable then the Lifeguard Supervisor SEQ is to be contacted. No lifeguard is to leave before the Lifeguard Supervisor or Lifeguard Supervisor SEQ is contacted and approval given.
