TIME AS PER ROSTER
  • 09:00 (9am) START – 17:00/18:00 (5pm/6pm) FINISH
OPENING 09:00
  • Arrive at Net 1 tower. Prepare to set up & for radio sign on
  • Radio Sign on with Townsville Roving Lifeguard/Surfcom comprising signal report only
  • Sign-on LIMSOC
  • ABSENT STAFF TO BE REPORTED TO NBB LIFEGUARD SUPERVISOR IMMEDIATELY
START 09:00
  • Check and test equipment – First Aid kit, Oxygen Kit, De-fib, communication equipment, spinal board and other rescue aids placing them in locations as per patrol setup – refer Lifeguard Operations Manual & NBB Lifeguard Supervisor.

  • Make sure Rockpool area is presentable and if all is in order OPEN. Place patrol equipment out in designated areas.
  • CLOSE ROCKPOOL IF REQUIRED & Carry out set up for No Swimming. Contact Townsville Roving Lifeguard and follow instructions for duties required that day.

  • Enter LIMSOC stats
As per roster 16:45 17:45
  • Make announcement via Pa/loud hailer to all patrons that the lifeguard will be going off duty in 15 minutes and after that time swimmers will be swimming at an unpatrolled location.
  • Gather all gear and equipment, return to tower for washing/cleaning and store neatly within tower.
As per roster 16:55 17:55
  • Conduct radio sign-off with Townsville Roving Lifeguard/Surfcom.
  • Sign-off LIMSOC
As per roster 17:00 18:00
  • Place portable radio and LG I-phone on charge.
  • TURN OFF LIGHTS BEFORE LEAVING: SECURE AND LOCK TOWER.
DAILY DUTIES
  • Lifeguard daily diary to be filled out as day progresses and incidents occur. Supporting statements must be filled out immediately after reports and attached to respective reports.
  • Gather rubbish from Rockpool and surrounds – place in rubbish bins.
  • Maintain public relations and educate patrons of regulations, laws and rules
  • Maintain security of shed & office
  • Maintain a clean working environment
  • Report all situations that require assistance
  • Check First Aid kit, communication equipment, rescue equipment, stretcher/ board and other rescue equipment report any repairs required or equipment for re-stock to NBB Lifeguard Supervisor.
  • Routinely check and report on toilets/showers during opening hours.
  • Re-stock First Aid supplies as required.
  • Gather lost property, log and forward to Townsville Roving Lifeguard.
  • Carry out other duties and complete within time given as instructed by NBB Lifeguard Supervisor.
  • All gear and equipment used each day is to be cleaned/maintained thoroughly before packing away in a neat and tidy fashion in the tower.
  • Any gear & equipment that is damaged, missing or inoperable is to be reported to the NBB Lifeguard Supervisor immediately.
