Introduction

To clean up affected area after water contamination has been identified.

The code brown kit is in the first shed bay in the lower carpark. Lifeguards must ensure this kit is returned and thoroughly cleaned after every use. Keys unlocked the storage area are kept in the esky and must be returned after every use. Lifeguards are to close the roller door when not present, including while kit is in use.

Formed stool/Vomit/Diarrhoea Procedure

Lifeguards to close affected pool/s (Upper and Lower Lagoon are connected. Toddler is separate) Riverway 1 must inform the Lifeguard Supervisor, Council representative and Elite Pool Care immediately.

Remove as much contamination as possible with a scoop provided and disposed of in toilets.

Add 1kg of chlorine into the affected area *this is to expedite the disinfection process in the immediate area of contamination, the pool still needs to undertake a specific treatment.

Await advice off Council/Pool Contractor when the pool can be reopened.

Note – no remedial action is required for blood in the water provided a primary disinfection residual is present.

For the pool to be disinfected properly, Lifeguards must notify the pool contractor immediately to ensure the water is tested to specific requirements, filters are cleaned and water is rebalanced. Formed stool and vomit hold a specific level of disinfection for 50 minutes, while diarrhoea disinfection process is more in depth and will be closed for a longer duration
