Introduction

Just like driving on the road there are rules that apply to beach driving.

Policy

Beach driving occurs every day and lifeguards needs to follow the rules of the beach.
Lifeguards to understand how to engage in and out of 4wd, as the SLSQ fleet of vehicles differ.

Procedure

  1. Engage 4wd just before entering the beach ensure you stay in 4wd whilst on the beach
  2. Turn on hazard lights and top flashing light
  3. Maximum speed on the beach is 20km/h outside flagged areas
  4. 5 km/h in flagged and populated areas, 4wd low recommended.
  5. Reckless driving on the beach is not acceptable at any time and perpetrators will be dealt with appropriately .
  6. Once off the beach turn off hazard lights and top flashing light. Place back to 2wd. Refer to Vehicle Manual for correct use.
  7. It is important that this is done so no unnecessary damage is done to the vehicles
  8. If the beach is highly populated use forward beeper.
