24.21. LGS RWL 5.1 Opening Procedure

Introduction

When opening the ‘Water Area’ Lifeguards are to ensure that there are three Lifeguards on duty and that the following procedures are adhered to.

Opening Procedure

1. All lifeguards to sign on to Deputy

2. Riverway 1 to sign on LIMSOC.

3. Perform radio check with Surfcom and Security

4. Deploy operational equipment & signage as per LGS 5.17

5. Perform operational checks on oxy equipment, First Aid kits & Defibrillators.

6. Ensure the general cleanliness of the First Aid Room.

7. Travel around the ‘water area’ and identify any hazards, destruction of property or litter and report to Riverway 1 or Lifeguard Supervisor if needed.
