- EACH MORNING – FIRST THING: Sign On with LIMSOC – ROVE (Lifeguard iPhone) as close to start of shift as Practically Possible

START |
- At the START of each rostered shift, the ROVE Lifeguard Vehicle is to be collected – after prior arrangement – from Lifeguard Supervisor OR from the SLSQ Wide Bay Capricorn Regional Office (Keys are to be collected from the pre-determined location)
- The ROVE Lifeguard is to log on to Deputy at start of Shift @ Deputy App – Lifeguard Phone
- The ROVE Lifeguard Mobile Phone AND the WBC Region 24-Hour Emergency Response/Tasking Phone are BOTH to be carried by the ROVE Lifeguard at ALL TIMES
- ROVE Lifeguard is to check that all Lifeguard beaches are operational – Logging on to Wide Bay Rove IPad. The ROVE Lifeguard will then check that ALL Beaches in Wide Bay Capricorn are open using the IPad provided to Surf Guard.
- ROVE Lifeguard will then Sign on with Surfcom, reporting to Surfcom their position through out the day, using Wide Bay ROVE IPad, or Radio contact.

VEHICLE DAILY CHECKS |
- Check vehicle engine oil, coolant, fuel, tires, lights, controls and damage report any faults to supervisor and speedometer reading.

DAILY DUTIES
- ROVE Lifeguard is to check that all Lifeguard beaches are operational – Logging on to Wide Bay Rove IPad. The ROVE Lifeguard will then check that ALL Beaches in Wide Bay Capricorn are open using the IPad provided to Surf Guard.
- ROVE Lifeguard will then Sign on with Surfcom, reporting to Surfcom their position throughout the day, using Wide Bay ROVE IPad, or Radio contact.
- EACH MORNING, the ROVE Lifeguard is to confirm daily duties and/or any specific requests/tasks with the SLSQ Regional Manager or Lifeguard Supervisor.
- Using Wide Bay Rove IPad ROVE will monitor Emergency Response Cameras on a regular time frame if not attending surveillance at unpatrolled and Black spot areas.
- The ROVE Lifeguard Daily Report Log Book and any other relevant Log Books/Paperwork are to be completed in FULL each day
- Beach Visitation Statistics are to be collated and recorded for all UNPATROLLED BEACHES that are visited by the Rove Lifeguard – either within the Lifeguard Daily Report Log / within the Lifeguard Diary and WBC IPad
- All ROVE Lifeguard Gear & Equipment is to be checked EACH morning (i.e. pre-operational check) and maintained on an ongoing basis – this includes the important checks of the Oxy Viva and Defibrillator, as well as ensuring that all equipment is securely fastened to or within the Rove Vehicle – AND the ROVE Lifeguard will also ensure that ALL other Lifeguards have done the same.
- EACH DAY, the ROVE Lifeguard is to liaise with ALL rostered Lifeguards to check if a ‘LUNCH RELIEF SHIFT’ is required for a respective beach – if so, the ROVE Lifeguard will provide a Lifeguard service on each beach while the respective Lifeguard leaves the beach for lunch (this break should be for NO MORE THAN 20 Minutes).
- WEEKENDS – 1 Hour Lunchtime Reliefs are to be given to any Lifeguard working a straight 10-hour shift by themselves (i.e. Oaks Beach or Kelly’s Beach) – ONLY for 10 hour shifts!
- EACH DAY, the ROVE Lifeguard is to attend to and action requests from Lifeguards – that have come through the Lifeguard Supervisor – for replacement of, maintenance of, or purchase of Lifeguard and/or Club owned equipment.
- On a REGULAR BASIS, the ROVE Lifeguard will fill the FUEL CANS at Kelly’s Beach – this should be checked on a weekly basis as a MINIMUM (also can be done by REQUEST).
- Monday morning ROVE Lifeguard is to fill/fuel up Elliott Heads SSV using fuel cans from Kellys Beach.
- EACH DAY, the ROVE Lifeguard will be available to assist and/or back-up ANY Lifeguard if so requested for an emergency incident/situation OR if ANY Lifeguards feels they require a 2nd Lifeguard to assist them during BUSY periods.
- ON WEEKENDS & PUBLIC HOLIDAYS (when rostered), the ROVE Lifeguard will also monitor Volunteer Club Beach Patrols and will also be available to assist and/or back-up ANY Volunteer Club Beach Patrol if so requested for an emergency incident/situation.
- EACH DAY – WHEN 2 LIFEGUARDS ARE ROSTERED AT KELLY’S BEACH, and the FIRST Lifeguard at Kelly’s Beach for that day started his/her shift at 6am (RWC Patrol) and will finish his/her shift at 2pm (or other ‘early’ time), the ROVE Lifeguard is to work as the 2nd Lifeguard at Kelly’s Beach for the remainder of the shift (until 5pm, OR later if needed). The ROVE Lifeguard will need to confirm these shifts each day with the rostered Lifeguard/s at Kelly’s Beach!
- EACH DAY – and particularly during periods of the RUN-OUT TIDE (especially during KING TIDE periods) – the ROVE Lifeguard will pay particular attention via surveillance at unpatrolled areas such as the Elliott River Mouth and the Palmer’s Creek (Innes Park) – as well as any other coastal aquatic areas deemed ‘at risk’ or as requested by the Lifeguard Supervisor

Other Reminders |
- The ROVE Lifeguard is to be in full and complete uniform at ALL times
- The ROVE Lifeguard will maintain public relations with ALL beach and aquatic users, as well as educating such users with relevant aquatic safety tips, regulations, rules and/or local laws
- The ROVE Lifeguard MAY be tasked by the SLSQ Regional Manager (WBC) to attend to MEDIA commitments/requests
- All gear and equipment used each day is to be cleaned/maintained thoroughly before packing away in a neat and tidy fashion within the Lifeguard Kit and/or the ROVE Vehicle
- Any gear & equipment that is damaged, missing or inoperable is to be reported to the Lifeguard Supervisor immediately
- At the END of each rostered shift, the ROVE Lifeguard Vehicle is to be returned – after prior arrangement – to the SLSQ Lifeguard Supervisor OR to the SLSQ Wide Bay Capricorn Branch Shed
- At the END of each rostered shift, the ROVE Lifeguard is to ensure that both the ROVE Lifeguard Mobile Phone AND the WBC Emergency Response/Tasking Mobile Phone are both placed on charge , also Ice Packs are re-frozen for the next rostered shift.
- Sign off on LIMSOC as close to end off shift as Practically Possible
- When leaving for the day, the ROVE Lifeguard is to ensure that the ROVE Lifeguard Vehicle is in a clean and tidy state and securely locked – with the Keys returned to the predetermined location
