24.37. LGS RWL 5.17 Placement of Lifesaving Equipment

Introduction

The following rescue equipment is to be operational, correctly situated and available for use by Lifeguards always while on duty – refer attached map

Procedures

This is as follows:

• Rescue tube placement – as per attached map

• 1 x Spinal Board with spider straps (Hung on the side of Tower 1)

• 1 x Soft pack Oxy/Defib/FA kit (Located at Tower 1)

In times of high usage in a particular region of the Water Area the Lifeguard may carry or have close by a rescue tube. The origin of the tube placement is as per the Lifeguards discretion based on a risk assessment.

All equipment is to be used as per the SLSA Training Manual or the relative training guide. No Lifeguard is to use equipment in which they are not qualified or proficient with.
