Sunday to Monday 8am – 4pm
TIME AS PER ROSTER 08:00 START 16.00pm FINISH

  • Collect Lifeguard Radio and Phone from VMR Radio room.
  • All Lifeguard gear and equipment necessary for daily use is to be obtained from shed at top of walk way and placed on Boat.
  • First Aid Bag, Marine Stinger Net/bowel and equipment.
OPENING
08:00
  • Sign on LIMSOC and radio check with SURFCOM on way out of the Harbour
START 08:00
  • *Sign On with LIMSOC (Lifeguard iPhone) as close to start of shift as practically possible
  • Radio check only with SUFCOM and report on what area you are heading to on Western Side of Fraser Island
  • Radio must remain with Lifeguard at all times during the day.
  • Any incidences throughout the day notify Surfcom for IRL is possible
  • Check First Aid box, Oxygen Kit, communication equipment, rescue equipment – Rescue Board
DAILY DUTIES
  • Report any species that are found to Lifeguard Supervisor. ASAP
  • Secure and note time and place if specimen is found.
  • Gather rubbish from Boat and place in rubbish bag.
  • Maintain public relations and hand out information flyers to the public.
  • Maintain security of the SLSC and equipment.
  • Maintain a clean working environment
  • Carry out other duties and complete within time given as instructed by Supervisor
16:00pm
  • Sign off on LIMSOC
  • Radio SURFCOM on return to Harbour
  • Sign off on Deputy at end of shift
  • Lifeguard iPhone to be placed on charge at end of shift, upstairs in VMR radio room.
  • All gear and equipment used each day is to be cleaned/ washed down, thoroughly before packing away in a neat and tidy fashion in the VMR shed at top of walk way and that any alarm systems are suitably armed.
  • Key is to be replaced in the Key Safe on departure.
    Any gear & equipment that is damaged, missing or inoperable is to be reported to the Lifeguard Supervisor (WBC) immediately.

Related procedure Requirements:

If required to return to Boat Harbour, Lifeguard is to visit local information centers/motels and boat ramps etc. to leave Information Flyers.
