This section pertains to the procedure that is to be followed if a lifeguard can not log onto LIMSOC at the start of their shift or if during the course of their shift they are unable to log onto LIMSOC. At the rear of each Lifeguard Operations Manual lifeguards will be able to find 10 copies of the Daily Report Log and the Incident Report Log forms in the rear of the lifeguard operations manual.

Follow these general guidelines for preparing reports and completing forms:-

  • Write only in ink.
  • Sign and date the record and any alterations to it.
  • Do not use correction fluid to correct mistakes. Cross out any incorrect entry and initial the correction.
  • Keep the information in the record confidential.

Notes: – Be careful with how you write this record, because it could be used one day as a legal document in court. Records should be clear and concise. They should be accurate and factual, reflecting observations only and not opinions or attempts at medical conclusions.

Make sure you attach any additional notes that are taken at the time when the form is submitted i.e. taken on your note pad at the time of the incident.

When this occurs it is also important that STATE COMMUNICATION CENTRE are notified so they can sign the locations patrol on and off for the day, raise any incidents and log any rescues so that information can be back filled by the lifeguard supervisor at a later date. The lifeguard is also responsible for informing them that they are unable to access LIMSOC and the nature of why so that the supervisor can arrange for stats to be backfilled and replace device if required.
