Policy
All usage of the Riverway Lagoons ‘Water Area’ must be approved by the Townsville City Council (As from here known as “Council”). Council distributes an upcoming events list to the Lifeguard Supervisor on a weekly basis, who in turn, will advise affected rostered lifeguards of extraordinary activities in advance. This usage may be, but not limited to as follows:
- Surf Life Saving Association approved events.
- Commercial promotions.
- Filming advertising/serial production.
- Social functions.
- Special events
Procedures
In the event of a non-approved activity taking place, the Senior Lifeguard is to first contact the Lifeguard Supervisor and inform them of the activity. The Lifeguard Supervisor will then contact the Council advising of activity and act on instruction from Council.
This does not apply to general lagoon rules such as running, diving, riding of skateboards/scooters/bicycles within lagoon area, which are too be dealt with in the first instance by the on-duty lifeguards.
