- Radio Sign on (text Lifeguard Supervisor when radio network unavailable) with Townsville Roving Lifeguard/Surfcom comprising signal report only.
- Sign-on LIMSOC (In stinger season sign on LIMSOC with ‘dragging’ status)
- ABSENT STAFF TO BE REPORTED TO NBB LIFEGUARD SUPERVISOR IMMEDIATELY

- Check and test equipment – First Aid kit, Oxygen Kit, De-fib, communication equipment, spinal board and other rescue aids placing them in ATV for commencement of roving/surveillance patrol – refer Lifeguard Operations Manual & NBB Lifeguard Supervisor.

- Make sure beach area is presentable and if all is in order OPEN BEACH
- Alva Beach is a Roving/surveillance service, flags are not erected but beach report signs are to be used.
- STINGER SEASON – Perform Irukandji drags as per Marine Stinger guidelines. CLOSE BEACH IF REQUIRED & Carry out beach set up for No Swimming. Contact Townsville Roving Lifeguard and follow instructions for duties required that day.

- Make announcement via Pa/loud hailer to all beachgoers that the lifeguard will be going off duty at 5pm and after that time swimmers will be swimming at an unpatrolled beach. (Mon-Fri only) Gather all gear and equipment return to clubhouse for washing/cleaning and store neatly within clubhouse.

- TURN OFF LIGHTS BEFORE LEAVING: SECURE AND LOCK SURF LIFE SAVING CLUB.
- Place portable radio & LG I-phone on charge
- Return Ayr SLSC club house keys to pre-determined location (changes seasonally) as instructed by NBB Lifeguard Supervisor

DAILY DUTIES
- Lifeguard daily diary to be filled out as day progresses and incidents occur. Supporting statements must be filled out immediately after reports and attached to respective reports.
- Gather rubbish from beach and surrounds – place in rubbish bins.
- Maintain public relations and educate patrons of regulations, laws and rules
- Maintain security of Ayr SLSC and equipment. Check all notice boards in SLSC
- Maintain a clean working environment
- Inspect nearby creeks and drains for possible debris and erosion problems
- Report all situations that require assistance
- Check First Aid kit, communication equipment, rescue equipment, stretcher/ board and other rescue equipment report any repairs required or equipment for re-stock to NBB Lifeguard Supervisor.
- Routinely check and report on toilets/showers during opening hours.
- Re-stock First Aid supplies as required. Gather lost property, log and store.
- Carry out other duties and complete within time given as instructed by NBB Lifeguard Supervisor.
- Always lock SLSC Club house when not inside
- All gear and equipment used each day is to be cleaned/maintained thoroughly before packing away in a neat and tidy fashion in the clubhouse.
- Any gear & equipment that is damaged, missing or inoperable is to be reported to the NBB Lifeguard Supervisor immediately.
