Policy
It is the responsibility of all Lifeguards to ensure that the first aid room is maintained in a clean and tidy state at all times. It is essential that adequate levels of first aid stock are maintained in all operational first aid kits. Daily checks of equipment and ordering of stock when appropriate are important parts of maintaining a professional Lifeguard Service.
Procedure
At the beginning and end of each shift all lifeguards should ensure that the First Aid room is in a neat and tidy state. No lifeguard is allowed to leave personal belongings lying around in the first aid room. All personal belongings are to be kept in allocated storage. Lifeguards must not leave their food in the fridge for long periods of time (e.g. one week), the fridge is to be emptied and cleaned regularly.
First Aid Stock
- All contents of all operational first aid kits are to be checked in line with the LGOM 007 – First Aid Room Equipment and Supplies procedures.
- Lifeguards are to ensure that all operational first aid kits are stocked as per Lifeguard Operations Manual guidelines.
- If stock is required, email onto the Lifeguard Supervisor.
- The ordering of First Aid stock is to be done by the Lifeguard Supervisor or to whom they delegate.
- All use of First Aid stock is to be documented in the Daily Lifeguard Diary.
