  • Arrive at REOC.
  • Sign onto Deputy and Limsoc and perform radio check with SURFCOM
  • Perform Preoperational check on 4WD and complete logbook.
  • Check and test equipment – First Aid kit, Oxygen Kit, De-fib, communication equipment, spinal board, rescue board, tube, fins & vinegar.
  • Fill Eskies and load into 4WD
  • REPORT ANY FAULTS AND ABSENT STAFF TO NBB LIFEGUARD SUPERVISOR IMMEDIATELY.

  • IF HEATWAVE WARNINGS HAVE BEEN ISSUED OR FORECASTED TEMPERATURES ARE ABOVE 35 DEGREES REFER TO HEAT MANAGEMENT STRATEGY
  • Drop eskies off at all strand sites starting at Strand Waterpark.
STINGER SEASON 09:30
  • Proceed to Pallarenda stinger enclosure and perform stinger enclosure checks as per Uninet procedures, report any faults to NBB Lifeguard Supervisor immediately.
  • When no Pallarenda Lifeguard rostered (Or if the Pallarenda Lifeguard is not inducted into net operations), the stinger enclosure is to be shifted as low as the tide allows.
  • Scan the Strand beaches for any potential dangers, proceed to remove or minimize the dangers.
  • Close beach if required.
13:00/14:00
  • Arrive at Waterpark for change over.
  • Assist in handover where needed.
STINGER SEASON
1 hour prior to end of Net 1 shift
  • When no Pallarenda Lifeguard is rostered proceed to Pallarenda (Or if the Pallarenda Lifeguard is not inducted into net operations), shift the stinger enclosure to the high tide mark.
  • Scan the Strand beaches for any potential dangers, proceed to remove or minimize the dangers.
  • Close beach if required.
30 minutes prior to end of Rove shift
  • Collect all Eskies
  • Wash 4WD, fuel if required.
  • Ensure all radios and I-phones are on charge.
  • Rove lifeguard to park vehicle and lock up shed and gates if last out.
  • Secure and lock REOC

DAILY DUTIES


  • ASSUME THE ROLE OF INCIDENT CONTROLLER OF ANY MAJOR INCIDENTS.
  • Liaise with Magnetic Island Rove and organise any restock/replacement of gear and equipment where needed.
  • Lifeguard daily diary to be filled out as day progresses and incidents occur.
  • Maintain public relations and educate patrons of regulations, laws and rules
  • Maintain security of 4WD utility, Towers, Boat shed and equipment.
  • Maintain a clean working environment.
  • Assist Net 1/Riverway/Rockpool/Net 2/Water Park/Pallarenda as required
  • Always remove key to 4WD when not in use.
  • All gear and equipment used each day is to be cleaned/maintained thoroughly before packing away.
  • Any gear & equipment that is damaged, missing or inoperable is to be reported to the NBB Lifeguard Supervisor immediately.
  • All lost property to be handed in to The Strand Police Beat on a daily basis.
  • All North Barrier sites stats & stinger logs are to be checked they have been completed.
  • Check in with Waterpark Lifeguards prior to end of shift.

    WEEKLY DUTIES

  • Net 1, Net 2, Pallarenda & Water Park First Aid kits to be checked and restocked as per Lifeguard Operations Manual.
  • Net 1, Net 2, Pallarenda & Water Park sites, gear & equipment to be checked for repair/cleanliness.
  • Check and re-stock Strand and Pallarenda vinegar stations.
  • Ensure Net 1 SSV & RWC logbooks have been completed.
  • Complete stocktake of First aid supplies and uniforms, informing the NBB Supervisor of any restocks needed.
  • Refill jerry cans when requested by Net 1 Lifeguard.
  • Refill Lifeguard utility when fuel below half.
  • Complete site audits.

    RWC RESPONSE

  • Should the situation deem it necessary the Townsville Rove Lifeguard may transport and launch the RWC from an alternative launch site in accordance with 010 – Powercraft Operations.
  • If an emergency and the Townsville Rove Lifeguard response time is greater than 15mins, the NBB Supervisor must be informed immediately.
