Purpose
Lifeguards are required to wear uniforms at all times whilst on duty to ensure members of the public recognize Lifeguard presence in the area. Uniforms are a form of personal protective equipment which protects Lifeguards and abides by OH&S regulations
Procedure
SLSQ supplies their Lifeguards with the following:
*Shirt (long sleeve, sleeves unrolled)
- Shorts
- Hat
- Sunglasses (supplied annually for permanent employees only)
- Sunscreen
- Bum bag
- Radio (in radio bag)
Lifeguard uniform is to be worn at all times whilst on duty and remains the property of SLSQ. The uniform is not to be worn while off duty, as there is a possibility of poor publicity for SLSQ.
While on duty, Lifeguards are required to wear the minimum of a hat, shirt, shorts and bum bag. The standards are as follows:
- Hat – Always clean and to be worn in frontal position
- Shirt – Always clean, not crinkled and is to be worn with sleeves unrolled
- Shorts – Always clean and tidy
- Bum bag – clean and tidy and fully stocked
- Footwear (recommended)
