Introduction

The Jet Ski is an essential part of the rescue equipment needed on the beaches at North Stradbroke Island.

Policy

The Jet skis are used every week and upmost care is needed to ensure that they are always in perfect condition and ready for use.

Procedure

  • Every day it is essential that you start the Jet ski and run it for a minimum of 10 seconds – Do not rev engine
  • With Jetski attached to 4wd safe and secure, select an appropriate location for the jetski to be on standby.
  • Make some ‘tracks’ for the jetski by performing a straight forward and reverse tyre track (approx 3 times) to the water’s edge to above high tide.
  • Setup Jetski and trailer wheels on top of max trax if needed.
  • Check all equipment is in working order i.e. the sled is attached in three places to the Jet ski.
  • Throughout day ensure the jetski has a clear path to the water in case of emergency.
  • After use you need to clean the Jet ski.
  • Wash sand and debris off trailer (winch, tow hitch, wheels) and Jetski (jet nozzle and intake grate).
  • Attach hose into Jet Ski and turn Jet Ski on.
  • Turn water on to flush out all salt water.
  • Run for 3-5 minutes (less time for a 4 stroke Jetski see manufacturers manual).
  • Turn water off and rev the Jet Ski to get out excess water.
  • Turn Jet Ski off.
  • Spray inside of Jet Ski with lubricant spray.
  • Spray the tow hitch on the trailer with the same spray.
