  • The Lifeguard is to Log on To Deputy App at start of shift
  • Key to shed is situated in the Key Safe located on the West side of the shed.
DAILY DUTIES
  • LIMSOC Stats to be filled out as day progresses and incidents occur. Supporting statements must be filled out immediately after reports and attached to respective reports.
  • Gather rubbish from BEACH and surrounds – place in rubbish bins.
  • Maintain public relations and educate patrons of regulations, laws and rules.
  • Maintain security of tower and equipment, and maintain a clean working environment.
  • Re-stock First Aid supplies as required.
  • Gather lost property, log and store.
  • Carry out other duties and complete within time given as instructed by Supervisor
16:30/ 17:30 * The Lifeguard is to give an announcement over the PA System/Loud Hailer/Loud Speaker just prior (approximately 15 to 20 minutes) to finishing AND another one when finished the shift on each day of work – i.e. The first announcement advises that the Lifeguard shift will be finishing in ‘x’ minutes time, whilst the second announcement advises that the Lifeguard shift is now finished for the day, there is no supervision from this point onwards and the next Lifeguard shift will begin tomorrow at 9.00am (or 8.00am). An example of a Lifeguard Shift Finishing announcement (PA), could be:
  • “Ladies and gentleman, please note that the Lifeguard Service is now finished for the day. Please be aware that the beach is now unpatrolled and you are swimming at your own risk. Tomorrow’s Lifeguard Service will commence at 9.00am (or 8.00am). Thank you!”

  • Gather First Aid box, communication equipment, rescue equipment –
  • Spinal board, and other rescue aids placing them in shed as per Lifeguard Supervisor instructions.
  • Check and test equipment.
  • Re-stock First Aid supplies as required Place communications equipment on chargers.

  • Sign off on LIMSOC
  • Sign off on Deputy at end of shift
As per roster 17:00/18:00
  • Lifeguard iPhone to be placed on charge at end of shift
  • All gear and equipment used each day is to be cleaned/maintained thoroughly before packing away in a neat and tidy fashion.
  • All gear and equipment used each day is to be cleaned/Washed & maintained thoroughly before packing away in a neat and tidy fashion in the Lifeguard shed.
  • When leaving for the day, the Lifeguard is to ensure that the Shed/Facility is securely locked and that the key is returned to the key safe.
  • Any gear & equipment that is damaged, missing or inoperable is to be reported to the Lifeguard Supervisor (WBC) immediately.

Related procedure Requirements:

  • RWC: End of day if the ski is used
  • Wash sand/salt down off ski & trailer,
  • Hose down the prop and drive shaft underneath first,
  • Then plug hose in & run ski for 15-20 sec (only idle, no revving)
  • Storage of ski at night – seat to be removed and air for the night with a light spray of Inox to minimise corrosion.

SSV & RWC Trailer Entry To Beach

  • Approach beach access/pathway from lagoon side of carpark
  • Entering access – SSV & Trailer are positioned straight
  • Drive slowly –establish the appropriate distance between BOLARD and RUBBISH BIN
