DAILY DUTIES
Lifeguard daily diary to be filled out as day progresses and incidents occur.
Maintain public relations and educate patrons of regulations, laws and rules.
Maintain security of storage shed
Maintain a clean working environment
Remove debris, sticks and logs from stinger net and surrounds
Carry out net inspection as close to low tide where possible
Chains need to be set regularly to prevailing wind/currents to ensure net does not get buried.
Check First Aid kit, rescue equipment, board and other rescue equipment report any repairs required or equipment for re-stock to NBB Lifeguard Supervisor
Re-stock First Aid supplies as required. Gather lost property, log and store.
Always lock storage shed when not in use
All gear and equipment used each day is to be cleaned/maintained thoroughly before packing away in a neat and tidy fashion in the boat shed.
Any gear & equipment that is damaged, missing, or inoperable is to be reported to the NBB Lifeguard Supervisor immediately.
Check fuel stock and request Townsville Rove to refill when needed.
Refuel SSV when fuel is below half.
Refuel RWC after every use.
Clean boatshed & empty bins.
ACTIVE SUREVEILLANCE AND RESPONSE
Lifeguards primary duty is to maintain surveillance of the Strand Net 1 patrol area
Lifeguards will provide a surveillance only patrol to the Strand Rockpool, unless a dedicated Rockpool Lifeguard is on-duty
Lifeguards must operate the SSV in accordance with 011 – Vehicle Operations
Lifeguards must Operate the RWC in accordance with 010 – Powercraft Operations.

Make announcement via Pa/loud hailer to all beachgoers that the lifeguard will be going off duty in 15 minutes and after that time swimmers will be swimming at an unpatrolled beach.
Assist Townsville Rove in gathering all equipment, return to boat shed for washing/cleaning and store neatly within the boat shed.
