Introduction

Magnetic Island is conveniently located just a 25-minute water taxi ride or a 45-minute vehicle ferry journey from Breakwater Ferry Terminal and Magnetic Island Ferries office, respectively. Thanks to the support of Sealink, ALS-Q is pleased to offer lifeguards complimentary water taxi travel to and from work.

Procedures
Lifeguards should board the Sealink Ferry Water Taxi (usually blue and white) as regular passengers. When presenting at the check-in counter, Lifeguards must identify themselves as such, and staff will provide a return ticket. When boarding is announced, lifeguards should present their ticket to the deckhand. If a lifeguard misplaces their ticket during the day, they will need to purchase their own ticket.

For ferry timetables, please refer to the website www.sealink.com.au/magnetic-island/ferry-information/timetable/ (Note: Passengers are advised to arrive 10 minutes early to board the Water Taxi.)

This privilege is an additional benefit to the travel allowance and should not be abused.

If necessary, buses across the island connect with the water taxis at a cost of approximately $5 for a full day pass.

When traveling on the ferry, lifeguards are required to wear their Grey Lifeguard shirt

If arriving to the Breakwater Terminal by car, lifeguards can utilize free all-day parking (on weekdays only) located to the north of the Coast Guard Headquarters. On weekends and public holidays, the rostered lifeguard must make alternative parking arrangements.
