6.2. Marine Stinger Drag Kit

The contents of a marine stinger drag kit are as follows:

1. Copy of SLSQ Dangerous Marine Creature Risk Management Guidelines
2. Copy of GBRMPA Permit
3. Copy of DPI&F Permit
4. Marine Stinger Netting Log
5. Tide chart
6. Stinger suits – sizes as required
7. Wetsuit booties – sizes as required
8. Disposable gloves – sizes as required
9. Wetsuit gloves – 1-2 x M, 1-2 x XL (or sizes as required)
10. Specimen jars and sealable plastic buckets – various sizes up to 10L as required
11. Large clear collection bowl/jug – minimum 2L
12. Duct tape and nikkko pen
13. Packet of small cable ties (for net repairs)
14. Atomiser spray bottle x 1 – for washing suits with vinegar
15. 10L of vinegar (in addition to the vinegar on patrol and in the first aid room)
16. 1 x Box Jellyfish drag net (dimensions as per permits) NB. 1 box jellyfish net may be shared between multiple sites according to local requirements
17. 1 x Irukandji drag net (dimensions as per permits)
18. Strainer (Optional)
19. Magnifying glass
20. Marine stinger ID charts
