Introduction

The lifeguards need to use all sorts of equipment during the working day including First Aid equipment. Due to this lifeguards need to check this equipment at the beginning of every shift.

Policy

Lifeguards must check equipment every day to ensure oxygen and First Aid supplies are sufficient and in proper working order. This is especially important after a different lifeguard has worked as they may of set the oxygen equipment up differently to other lifeguards.

Procedure

  1. Before the beach is set up remove soft pack from truck.
  2. Check the oxygen equipment and defibrillator.
  3. If any equipment is not working replace it, note in diary, inform lifeguard supervisor and Senior Lifeguard.
  4. Check First Aid stock.
  5. If any missing replace it.
  6. Place Soft pack back in the truck (Back seat drivers’ side and clear of obstruction, not covered.).
  7. Note any important information in diaries.
