Purpose

Lifeguards are required to maintain a constant professional on beach presence. Remember the importance of taking ownership of your work place and all of its equipment. Procedures below that are to be completed each day whilst maintaining constant beach surveillance.

Procedure

  • Perform surveillance of bathing area and surroundings
  • Perform rescues and first aid treatment when required
  • Perform routine roving patrols when required
  • Relocate bathing area and hazard signs with change of tides and conditions
  • Complete LIMSOC to be as day progresses and incidents occur. Supporting IRL’s must be completed immediately.
  • Gather rubbish from beach and surrounds – place in rubbish bins
  • Maintain public relations and educate patrons of regulations, laws and rules
  • Maintain security of Lifeguard tower and equipment. Always lock tower when not inside
  • Maintain a clean working environment including storage areas
  • Report any repairs required or equipment for re-stock to Lifeguard Supervisor or Roving Lifeguard and note in daily diary
  • Carry out other duties and complete within time given as instructed by Lifeguard Supervisor or Roving Lifeguard
  • All gear and equipment used each day is to be cleaned/maintained thoroughly before packing away in a neat and tidy fashion in the storage area provided
  • All equipment has been re fuelled ready for the next day operations
