Introduction

When closing the Lagoons Lifeguards are to ensure that there are at least two Lifeguards on duty. One lifeguard is to ensure the following tasks are completed while the other lifeguards maintain supervision of both lagoons. The remaining Lifeguards should be rotating or stationed at an appropriate location within the Lagoon area until the designated time at which Lifeguard services conclude for the day.

Procedure

  • Lifeguards are to use the P.A (if >20 patrons) to start informing patrons 15 minutes prior to the end of their shift that Riverway Lagoons will be closing. Lifeguards are to inform patrons, that once their shift is finished the Lagoons are now closed and they must exit the water. They are also to identify any children and ensure parents are aware of the above message.
  • 15 minutes prior to finishing time, Lifeguards are to collect all tubes and throw bags storing them neatly in their closest towers while the esky is to be placed neatly in the staff room. The soft pack is to be left on deck until the conclusion of duties.
  • No sooner than 10 minutes before closing time are Lifeguards to start removing ‘Lifeguard on Duty” Signage to be placed in the closest tower.
  • At the conclusion of duties Lifeguards are to make a final announcement via the P.A informing patrons that “Riverway Lagoons along with the showers and toilets are now closed, Lifeguards will be on duty from 9am tomorrow. We kindly ask that all patrons now exit the water and not re-enter until Riverway lagoons re-open tomorrow.”
  • At this time lifeguards are to inform both Security and Camera Control that the Lifeguards have ceased operations for the day, inform them of the number of patrons left in the pools and confirm both P.A announcements have been made.
  • All remaining equipment is to be taken to the staff room and staff room locked upon departure.
  • Once the above procedures have been completed, Lifeguards are to sign off as per LGS 5.3
