LGS SB 3.4 Placement of Life Saving Equipment

Introduction

The following rescue equipment is to be operational, correctly situated and available for use by Lifeguards at all times while on duty.

Procedures

1. Rescue & Pool Equipment

Rescue Tubes
Quantity: 5
Storage: 1 x North Tower, 1 x South Tower, 3 X Buggy
On Deck Location: 1 x North Tower, 1 x South Tower, 2 x Main Tower, 1 x Buggy

Rescue Board and Stand
Quantity: 1 of Each
Storage: Board inside First Aid Room, Stand in Buggy.
On Deck Location: Board and Stand at Main Tower

Spinal Boards
Quantity: 3
Storage: 2 x Aquativity Storage, 1 x Boat Pool Storage.
On Deck Location: 1 x South Tower, 1 x Main Tower.

Pool Scoops
Quantity: 4
Storage: 1 x Inside South Tower, 2 x Boat Pool Storage, 1 x Aquativity Storage.
On Deck Location: 1 x South Tower, 1 x Main Tower, 1 x Boat Pool Tower, 1 x Aquativity.

2. Medical Equipment

Pelican Case
Equipment to Check: AED, Oxygen, First Aid contents

Buggy Soft Pack

Event Soft Pack

3.Towers

Each tower must have its required equipment regardless of how many lifeguards are on duty.

• Main Tower – spinal board, pool scoop, rescue board, rescue tube (x2), pelican case.
• Boat Pool tower – pool scoop.
• North Tower – rescue tube (x1), spinal board.
• South Tower – rescue tube (x1), spinal board.
• Aquativity Chair (fixed) – N/A
• Boat Pool weir chair (mobile) – N/A

In times of high usage in a particular region of the ‘Water Area’ the Lifeguard may carry or have close by a rescue tube. In such case, tube placement is as per the Lifeguards discretion based on a risk assessment. All equipment is to be used as per the SLSA Training Manual or the relative training guide. No Lifeguard is to use equipment in which they are not qualified or proficient with.
