Policy
To prolong the life of lifesaving equipment it is important that it is stored correctly.
Procedures
At the completion of each shift:
Lifeguard Buggy
- The buggy is to be swept out with hand brooms provided and returned to the buggy room and placed on charge. In wet weather the curtains must be left down overnight to dry.
Rescue Board
- The rescue board is to be cleaned free of sand and placed in the First Aid Room bathroom.
Rescue Tubes
- The Main Tower rescue tube is to be stored in the buggy. The rescue tubes at North & South Towers are stored within their respective tower.
Pelican Case
- The Pelican case is to be cleaned free of sand and returned to the First Aid Room and stored neatly next to the patient bed.
Soft pack
- The soft pack is to be returned to the First Aid Room and stored neatly under the patient bed.
Main, North and South Tower Spinal Boards
- The spinal boards are to be returned to the Boat Pool Tower and stored neatly.
Radios
- The radios are to be returned to the First Aid Room, turned off and placed on charge.
GWN Radio
- One located in the First Aid room and one in the Supervisor office. To be used when needing to contact Surfcom for an incident or operational matters.
Radio Bags
- Radios are to be removed from the bags, and bags placed next to the chargers in the place provided.
Spare Bum Bags
- Spare bum bags are to be returned to the First Aid Room; contents replaced and hung the from the ceiling. Contents list is located in the First Aid Room.
Rain Jackets
- Jackets are to be hung up in the bathroom area on roof rail provided to dry. If jackets or hoodies are dry, they are to be hung from the rack next to the treatment bed.
Pool Scoop
- The Main Pool scoop must be clean and stored in Boat Pool Tower, in addition to the boat pool scoop. The South Tower pool scoop is stored within the tower storage under the seating area. The Aquativity pool scoop is stored in the Aquativity storage area.
