Policy

As per SLSA and SLSQ Guidelines, equipment, their location and their guidelines that are specific to the South Bank Lifeguards operations are contained within this manual.
“All Lifesaving, Rescue and First Aid equipment is to be thoroughly checked before the commencement of duties each day and/or after use”. These pieces of equipment are to be marked off by the Lifeguard 9 on the Lifeguard 9 checklists.

Procedures

This in relation to the South Bank Lifeguard Service is as follows:

  • 1 x Yellow pelican case Oxy units (As per SLSA Training Manual) Checklists)
  • 1 x First Aid Kit (As per SLSQ Guidelines)
  • 2 x Soft Pack (As per SLSQ Guidelines)
  • 1 x First Aid Drawer in First Aid Room (As per SLSQ Guidelines)
  • 3 x Rescue Tubes (As per SLSA Training Manual)
  • 1 x Rescue Board (As per SLSA Training Manual)
  • 1 x Board/Tube Stand (As per SLSQ Guidelines)
  • 10 x Radio Communication units (As per SLSA Training Manual)
  • 3 x Semi-Automatic Defibrillators (As per SLSQ Guidelines)
  • 1 x First Aid Room (As per SLSQ Guidelines)
  • 1 x Lifeguard Buggy (As per Policy and Procedures Manual)
  • 2 x Spinal Board (As per SLSQ Guidelines)
  • 4 x Pool Scoops
  • 1 x Trauma Tent

Please Note:
When special events are scheduled additional personnel and equipment is needed to fulfil increased visitations. This equipment is, but is not restricted to:

  • Rescue Water Craft (As per SLSA Rescue Water Craft Manual)
  • Additional First Aid Kits (As per SLSQ Guidelines)
  • Additional Semi-Automatic Defibrillators (As per SLSQ Guidelines)
  • Additional Soft Packs (As per SLSQ Guidelines)
  • Tents (As per South Bank Risk Assessment)
