Purpose
It is a requirement that all Lifeguards be aware that while performing their duties, and in the provision of the service, they are not to take any action which could be detrimental to South Bank Corporation, Surf Life Saving Qld, and the Australian Lifeguard Service. Nor should any action bring a negative view from the public.
Procedure
Mobile phones are not to be taken onto the pool deck while a Lifeguard is on duty. They are not to be placed on silent and kept in bum bags. This includes the use of cellular enabled smart watches.
If a Lifeguard is waiting for an important call, they can leave the phone with the Lifeguard Supervisor. If a call is received the Lifeguard Supervisor can then contact, you over radio. If the Lifeguard Supervisor is not on duty lifeguards may ask Security Control to mind it.
In critical emergency situations, the Lifeguard in-charge (LG9) may utilise their phone on deck to contact the Lifeguard Supervisor or other important SLSQ contact.
