The pool may not open, may open late, or close early due to any of the following:
- Unfavourable weather resulting in the absence or likely absence of swimmers e.g., rain.
- Safety reasons, e.g., lightning, equipment failure, contamination, vandalism.
- Interruptions to the power supply.
- Staffing increases due to Hot weather and large populations in the water should be directed to the lifeguard supervisor. This will be approved by the Lifeguard supervisor and elevated to South Bank Corporation for their knowledge. South Bank Lifeguard Supervisor should include predicted weather in the lifeguard weekly report to recommend to South Bank Corperation to increase staffing as required.
*In the event of imminent weather and lightning, lifeguards may close the pool until the weather is conely past. During such times, all patrons must evacuate from the water and take appropriate cover until notified by the Lifeguards that it is safe to return to the water.
- Southbank will inform the Lifeguard Supervisor of any events for the facility.
- During brief power outages, the pool can remain open if adequate supervision is available.
- Extension of pool operating hours shouldn’t be extended or minimised unless otherwise directed by the Lifeguard Supervisor.
