This method is used in the case of movement of staff members for an indefinite period between two Secretariat entities, generally as a lateral movement. A transfer does not give the staff member rights to lien on the post of the releasing Department. For inspira OM Module purposes, transfers can also include promotions, when an internal candidate is selected for a higher position within the organization. Note that in Umoja, the term transfer is restricted to permanent movements at the same level. Promotions are effected with a different PA (promotion PA), which can be within the same duty station or in a different duty station.
