The purpose of medical clearance is to ensure that staff are physically and mentally fit to perform their designated functions without risk to the safety and health of themselves or others, considering their health status, the job demands, and the health risks and health support available at the location in which they are to serve. (ST/AI/2018/4 on Medical Clearances)

Depending on the case at hand, a medical clearance may or may not be necessary, e.g., when the candidate is a current staff member and will be moving to a new position within the same duty station with no significant change in the physical or mental requirements.

Note that the medical clearance, reference verification and offer documents processes may happen simultaneously.

In case the candidate is not medically cleared, the offer management case may be closed. Click the link below for instructions on how to proceed when a candidate is not granted medical clearance.
