The onboarding and staff movement process generally follows the the workflow shown in the diagram below. Annex VI includes three specific examples to illustrate that some steps are conditional and may not be required in certain cases. For example, the offer management process presented in the diagram below contains several steps related to travel, which are not applicable in cases of local recruitment or reassignment within the same duty station. Some aspects of the process may also change depending on the Onboarding Method1
The onboarding or staff movement of selected candidates is generally processed in stages as shown below:
- Initiate the Onboarding or Staff Movement Process
- Confirm/Request Global Index Database Number
- Set-up (Validate) the Offer Request
- Establish and Endorse Grade and Step
- Process the Offer Documents
- Confirm/Request Medical Clearance
- Confirm/Request Reference Verification
- Process Travel, Visa and Confirm Offer
- Finalize the Onboarding or Staff Movement
Offer Management cases that no not lead to entry on duty are considered incomplete cases which are closed using the Manage Disposition Status – Incomplete Cases.
1 Onboarding method is the term used in this Manual but should be read to include staff movements.
