KT Kramer Control Application Update

Overview

If you received a KT with new firmware where the Kramer Control application is immediately update upon powering the unit on then you may need to understand the update process below. If you have one of these units, more than likely, the application version you are using is out of date. In order to check the current version of the Kramer Control application you will need to follow these steps to check:

KT-1010 Application Versioning check

1. If screws are inserted into back of tabletop stand, you will need to remove them to access the Android button
2. Press the small round button
3. Enter passcode
   • Kramer
4. Choose Home page
5. Choose the settings icon on the main screen
6. Select apps
7. Scroll down to Kramer Control

KT-107 Application Versioning check

1. Press and hold the Kramer logo on the outer edge of the KT
2. Enter the passcode Kramer with a capital K
3. Choose the option to visit Home page
4. Choose the settings icon on the main screen
5. Within device section, choose the Apps button
6. Scroll down and select Kramer Control

Within the next screen you will see options to disable and force stop. Atop the list you will see the version number.

If your KT is running an older application version you will need to follow the below process to update the application to the latest available version

Requirements

Before you can update the Kramer Control application you will need to enable the Top and Bottom navigation bars within the settings of the kt

1. Press and hold the Kramer logo on the outer edge of the KT
   • If using a KT-1010 remove tablet from base or wall mount, and press the small round button on the back of the unit
2. Enter the passcode Kramer with a capital K
3. Choose the option to visit Home page
4. Choose the settings icon on the main screen
5. Choose the Display option from the list
6. Scroll down until you see these two options
   • Always hide bottom navigation bar
   • Always hide top status bar
     • KT-1010 only has single option to Hide status Bar – this should be deselected
7. Toggle both options off (White icon should appear on left)

Google Update Process

The first way to update the Kramer Control application is by adding a Google Account to the KT. This way is recommended since the Google Play store will be able to notify users of new updates when they become available.

1. Press and hold the Kramer logo on the outer edge of the kt
   • If using a KT-1010 remove tablet from base or wall mount, and press the small round button on the back of the unit
2. Enter the passcode Kramer with a capital K
3. Choose the option to visit Home page
4. Swipe in a downward motion from the top edge of the kt
5. Tap on the Alert icon notifying the user that Google Play services are out of date
6. Enter Gmail address
   • It is recommended using a generic Gmail account for this process. We do not recommend using a personal Gmail account when installing a kt into a customer location.
7. Finish the sign in process and choose the Update option for Google Play services
8. Swipe down from top of screen once again and select the option indicating that Google Play services were updated
   • You will be redirected to the Google Play store
9. Search for Kramer Control within the white search area
10. Once you have located the Kramer Control app within the Play store choose the option to Update

Once you have selected the Update option a download bar appears with the status of the download. Upon completion of the download you will be able to open the Kramer Control application by selecting the Green Open button.

You will be required to sign in to the Kramer Control application after successfully updating the application.

Side Loading Application

This process allows you to update the Kramer Control application via side loading the apk file from the Kramer AV website. This process involves a few more steps then the method mentioned above. This process does not require the addition of a Gmail account. However, if new releases were to become available this process would have to be repeated since Google play services have not been added to the kt

KT-107 Sideload process

1. Press and hold the Kramer logo on the outer edge of the kt
2. Enter the passcode Kramer with a capital K
3. Choose the option to visit Home page
4. Open the browser application
5. Follow this link on the KT
6. Tap on the downloaded file
7. In the popup window, choose the release.apk file that appears
8. At this point the update process will Fail you will see a new popup indicating that the Installation has been blocked
   • Choose the settings option that appears within this popup
   • Scroll down within the Security page that now appears
   • Toggle the option next to Unknown sources so the option is enabled
   • Select the ok option that appears within the new pop-up
   • Select the back button in the lower navigation bar (sideways triangle that appears left of the o)
9. Select the release.apk file from the center popup window that is viewable
10. Select install from the new popup that appears in your screen
11. Select open once the installation has finished

KT-1010 Sideload process with USB

1. Download Kramer Control application from here
2. On your personal laptop or computer, you will need to unzip the file before moving the file to a USB drive
3. Move apk file to USB storage on your MAC or PC
4. Remove tablet from base or wall mount, and press the small round button on the back of the unit
5. Plug in USB drive to bottom back of KT-1010 hardware
6. Open the APK installer application
7. Select Install
8. Select USB Memory
9. Select kramer-control- version number that appeared on your laptop or pc
10. Select Install from new popup that appears

KT-1010 Application Update without USB

1. Remove tablet from base or wall mount, and press the small round button on the back of the unit
2. Choose Home page
3. Select menu button to show all apps
4. Open the Browser application
5. Go to think URL
   • https://kramer-releases.s3.amazonaws.com/kramercontrol/latest/apk/kramer-control.apk
6. The browser will begin the download process
7. Once finished, open the downloads application
8. Select the Kramer Control release from the downloads folder
9. Choose install from the new popup that appears
10. Select open once the install is finished
