Overview

We have found that some installations have Networks where the WAN connection is inconsistent. Some Brains will drop the WAN connection temporarily, but upon reconnecting the Brain is entering into a Synchronizing state. Depending on the size of the Project, this sync time could take minutes. With the release of v2.2.7 we are introducing 3 new sync_on_wan_restore states:

  • “Auto” – New Default for SL Brains (SL-240, SL-240C & SL-280) – this setting will introduce a sync upon WAN restore.
    • KC Server Brains will reset to this setting if the Brains are stopped through the Kramer CLI command
  • “On” – Same default for BRAINware – this setting will cause the Brain to sync each time the WAN setting is restored
  • “Off” – this setting will disable the sync effort for when WAN is restored to the Brain even if a publish was pushed. Publishing will still work when connected to the internet.

The setup instructions below will show you how to check the settings of your Brain after updating to v2.2.7 and how to change the internal settings of the Brain if needed

Note – We have noticed if you set the Sync On WAN to Off before provisioning the Brain, the Brain may enter into an Orange status which indicates that the Brain is not connected to any controlled devices. If your Brain enters this state follow the steps below to fix the issue:

  1. Change Sync On WAN setting to Auto or On
  2. Clear Cache on the Brain

Process

  1. Open Kramer UI webpage
    • Go to _BrainIP_:8000/kramer-ui/index.html
      • Replace the BrainIP with the IP address of SL hardware
  2. Expand the Brain actions section
  3. Select one of the three options from above
