Drawing a stove opening uses many of the Flexijet Stone functions to create a square opening for a stove at a desired width. These skills can be applied to other situations as well.

Drawing a stove opening (aligning to the object):

  1. Draw a line across the stove opening and use the align button to align the view to this line. Offset it for the desired overhang and delete the original ‘construction’ line. Note: Do not use the ‘Align’ function after repositioning!
  2. Draw a line between the 2 sides of the stove opening.
  3. Draw a line from the middle of the last line, either extending straight up or down from this line.
  4. The length of this line does not matter at this point. Draw the line long enough to be easy to click/tap for editing!
  5. Delete the cross line.
  6. Now, offset the middle line to either side to create the width of the opening. E.g., offset 15” to either side to create a 30” stove opening.
  7. Connect these lines to the back wall lines.
  8. Use the ‘Stretch’ tool to extend the stove opening side lines to the front edge.
  9. Use the Break Tool to delete the centre section of the front line.

To draw a stove opening without aligning the horizontal view:

  1. Draw a line across the stove opening, and offset it for the desired overhang. Delete the original ‘construction’ line.
  2. Draw a line between the 2 sides of the stove opening.
  3. Draw a line from the middle of the last line. For the second point, choose ‘Snap Perpendicular’ from the contextual menu and click to snap perpendicular to the front line. The length of this line does not matter at this point. You may use the ‘Lengthen Line’ tool to extend it for easy editing. Delete the cross line.
  4. Now, offset the middle line to either side to create the width of the opening. Ex, offset 15” to either side to create a 30” stove opening.
  5. Connect these lines to the back wall lines.
  6. Use the Break Tool to delete the centre section of the front line.
