The Maximum Tolerance function shows the maximum tolerance of a polyline compared to 2 straight lines, by creating these 2 straight lines. This can be aligned to the polyline or to the coordinate system (Horizontal/Vertical).
Maximum Tolerance button

This function can only be used on open polylines. For a group of lines, first convert to a Polyline using the ‘Single Elements to Polyline’ tool (See ‘Polylines’ for more information)

To Create/show the Maximum Tolerance lines:

  1. Select the Maximum Tolerance tool from the drop-down under ‘Polyline>Maximum tolerance’
  2. Enter ‘1’ for Aligned, and ‘2’ for Parallel to Axis. Confirm your selection with ‘Enter’ key or ‘Confirm’
  3. Now, select the polyline
  4. The maximum and minimum lines will now be displayed as colored lines.
