Due to issues with camera control on macOS High Sierra using the Image Capture and Canon connections, there is now a menu item in the Setup
menu, Camera (64bit)...
(or Camera (High Sierra)...
on v1.3.2). This will open the ‘Camera Setup’ dialog with a more limited range of camera connections.
Currently only ‘Image Capture’ and ‘Canon’ connections are supported. Most Nikon DSLR cameras should work as well as some Canon DSLR cameras with ‘Image Capture’. The setup dialog works in the same way as the usual ‘Camera Setup’ dialog.
When using a Canon DSLR with the Canon connection, it is wise to disable the camera’s automatic shut-down timer, otherwise the camera may shut-down when no photo is taken for a few minutes. While previously Moving Light Assistant was able to prevent the camera from shutting down, this does not seem possible currently using the new Canon developer framework.
When using a camera with Image Capture, ensure the camera’s own software is installed on the computer to ensure the latest camera drivers are installed. It is also worth checking that you camera has the last firmware installed.
