At the end of Phase I, there will be both informal and formal reviews of the CEC’s portfolio. The informal review of the CEC’s portfolio will take place with the CEC’s peer group and will provide the CEC and training educator valuable input and feedback.

The formal review, at which it will be decided that the CEC is ready to move into Phase II, will include the training educator, the Certification Commission Reviewer, and an additional (new) National Faculty Member who does not work in the CEC’s center. This National Faculty Member shall be someone different than the National Faculty member who participated in the CEC’s interview process. The training educator and the CEC will choose the National Faculty Member together. This group will review the evidence, data, and artifacts to ensure that the CEC has adequately demonstrated each competency. Following their review, they will provide feedback to the CEC, highlighting areas of accomplishment, and areas for continued focus.

In preparation for this review, the CEC will ensure that the assessment form is completed listing the evidence for each competency.

If the team determines that the CEC has met the competencies, then a formal interview will be held via video conference with the CEC to review the portfolio, provide feedback, and to offer support and encouragement in the CEC’s journey.

At the conclusion of the interview, the assessment form is returned to the CEC, who will then upload it into their portfolio. The Certification Commission Reviewer will then submit the last page of the document to the ACPE office, certifying that the CEC has successfully met the required competencies to move to Phase II.
