Founded in 1967, ACPE, Inc. is the premier, DOE-recognized organization that provides the highest quality clinical pastoral education (CPE) programs for spiritual care professionals of any faith and in any setting. ACPE does this through a rigorous accreditation and certification process for centers and educators that provide CPE. The depth of ACPE training enables students to realize their full potential to strengthen the spiritual health of people in their care as well as themselves.
Membership is comprised of certified educators, spiritual care professionals, friends of ACPE, and related institutions.
ACPE is exempt from taxation under Section 501©3 of the Internal Revenue Code. FCPE, The Foundation for Clinical Pastoral Education, Inc., is a subsidiary and a qualified Type I Supporting Organization of ACPE. ACPE prepares consolidated financial statements on a calendar year and according to generally accepted accounting practices in the United States (GAAP). A separate federal Form 990 is filed by each entity, ACPE and FCPE.
