Student achievement in Certified Educator CPE is based on demonstration of the CEC Competencies that are assigned to each phase of the process. The demonstration of CEC Competencies is documented in the CEC’s portfolio and assessed minimally every six months via formal evaluations as outlined in the educational plan and contract. and within the general timeline guidelines for the CEC Process:

Demonstration of the Certified Educator CPE Competencies is done through direct evidence, analysis, and reflection by the Certified Educator Candidate and an assessment by the ACPE Certified Educator. For each competency, CECs will provide 1-3 items of evidence that they feel best meet the language and intention of the stated competency. The evidence must show both knowledge and demonstration as stated in the competency. The ACPE Certified Educator will ensure that there is a sufficient demonstration of knowledge and skill within the evidence provided as well as utilizing their own observations as the educator. If a CEC does not fully demonstrate the competence, they will be asked to submit additional evidence. When a CEC has achieved a minimum of 90 percent of the competencies, they will earn a Certificate of Achievement for the phase in which they are learning.

A CEC’s educational process is led by the ACPE Certified Educator and is inter-related with the ACPE Certification Process. Once the CEC has received the Certificate of Achievement for a phase, they are then eligible to participate in the ACPE Certification process corresponding to that phase. Attainment of the certificate for the phase at the local level does not guarantee continuation in the ACPE Certification process, which is a requirement to move to the next phase.

During the 6-year review, the site team will assess student progress and achievement according to the timeline set by the program, the educator’s evaluations, and the attainment of the Certificate of Achievement within the timeline established.
