New Features

High Resolution Spotlight & Snap

The Spotlight interface has been redesigned to enhance the user experience, maximizing image space while providing a more intuitive flow for adjusting settings. A new “Resolution” tab in the Adjustment Panel introduces High Res mode, enabling greater precision in feature boundary selection and improving Spotlight’s ability to detect finer details. It also allows Spotlight to be applied to large images that previously would not have fit in GPU memory.
Spotlight performance purposely slowed below for live preview.
Basic Resolution High Resolution

High Res mode is also available in the Snap drawing tool, available in both the Manual Edit recipe step and Session Processor. When enabled, Snap operates with higher resolution and edge precision within your field of view. The high resolution area is visually indicated by a white dotted box, which dynamically follows your zoom and pan movements.

A key advantage of High Res mode is its ability to enhance tracing precision for deep learning training, resulting in more accurate and robust models.

Overlay Measurements on Features

Feature overlays in Color by Measure have been significantly expanded to allow the overlay of measurements on the color-coded features. Users can now customize the overlays’ font color, background color, alignment, position, and which measurements and titles to display.

Overlays shown during report generation will appear in PDF or Word reports. For the full documentation see: Color by Measure

New Recipe Step: Math Process

A new recipe step allows ‘Math’ operations to be strung together into a more complex expression. Math Process can help reduce the binary mask reshuffling steps to achieve a Math step.

Improvements

Base Package

  • Improved speed of generating measurements in the Session Processor.
  • Improved the ‘Save Image’ experience in the Color by Measure window, to work with new feature overlay expansion.
  • Added support for Rotating Lines Anisotropy Factor as a Custom Measurement variable.
  • Added Save option to the Measurements Table window in the Image Processor. Measurements can be output as displayed in the table or as a single to row to match the Batch Processor measurement summary table.
  • Added a show option to display the window size in any function that uses a window such as ‘Median Filter’ and ‘Adaptive Threshold’.
  • Clean up handling of file names, including correct handling of spaces at the end of file names before extensions.
  • Fixed bug with renaming layers in the Session Processor where file paths were not properly updated.

Report Extension

  • 4-digit version now included in printed reports.

Checkpoint

  • When exporting data from MIPAR Checkpoint, now only the report PDF will be exported.
  • In MIPAR Checkpoint, remove the “Discard Results” button from the Batch Processor.

Bug Fixes

Base Package

  • Fixed bug where current image saved out of Image Processor would not respect the show/hide button.
  • Fixed bug preventing the generation of measurements from the Session Processor when the session was generated from a batch that used a recipe with dynamic calibration.
  • Fixed bug with saving portable session on Mac systems after renaming a layer.
  • Fixed bug in Load Companion Image with relative path not updating after replacing the companion image.
  • Fixed bug in Load Companion bug that would keep the step from interrupting when set to ‘Interruptible’.
  • Improved channel operation error handling and fixed bug with warning dialog on load of binary image.
  • Fixed bug with FFT Filter ‘Clear’ button that prevented the generated filters from resetting.
  • Fixed bug with generating a Custom Measurement with Total Rotating Intersections.
  • Fixed recipe Template loading with Spotlight for the following templates category: Manual.
  • Image Tile Extractor and Session Processor>Merge Sessions now default to the image folder instead of the install folder.

Report Extension

  • Fixed bug that would print inaccurate report date if the report was configured at a different date/time than the batch was ran.
  • Fixed bug when generating PDF reports that would open and close the Word report before opening the final PDF report.
  • Fixed bug on mac that would prevent pdf report generation.

Deep Learning Extension

  • Fixed bug that would prevent the display from updating after choosing ‘Don’t save’ regarding unsaved changes prior to starting a deep learning training.

3D Toolbox

  • Fixed bug where Image Stack alignments file could incorrectly load with only 6 columns rather than 7.

Live

  • Temporarily removed the Camera Advanced Settings button.

Hotfixes

5.1.0.1

Base Package

  • Fixed bug that would result the layer color selection window to open off screen when the AI Session Processor window is maximized.
  • Fixed bug with Color by Measure window not opening in recipes built before v5.1.
  • Fixed a bug in Color by Measure where selecting Generate and Cancel would return an error.
  • Fixed a bug in Color by Measure where launching the window from Measurements>Color By Measure would result in an error.
  • Fixed bug where recipes with custom-named steps could fail to load in the Batch Processor and Real-Time Processor.
  • Fixed bug in Range Threshold that would cause the interface to error when setting the maximum value using the edit field if it’s the first setting to be edited.
  • In Local Measurement improved the pixel ID tool to not cut of text in longer measurement names.
  • Added the ability to edit labels opacity in Spotlight and some other recipe steps that use labels view.
  • Updated tooltips for drawing tool checkboxes in Manual Edit and Session Processor, and added tooltips to 3-way switch in Session Processor.

Spotlight

  • Fixed issue which could cause checkmark icon on Fast/Accurate Snap switch to not display properly.
