GPU
Spotlight is resource intensive. Due to the significant acceleration provided, a Windows system with NVIDIA GPU is strongly recommended. 8GB of VRAM is minimum, 12-16GB is recommended, greater than 16GB is optimal. Apple Silicon Mac systems offer GPU acceleration through their unified chip architecture, though performance will be lower compared to Windows systems with NVIDIA GPUs. At least 16GB RAM is required to run Spotlight on Macs.
Spotlight is available in two performance modes: Fast and Accurate. Fast uses a lighter-weight model, Accurate uses the full model. Fast can offer acceptable performance on a CPU, though GPU mode is recommended for both models.
A table of NVIDIA GPU options categorized by performance is available here. The table is relevant for both Spotlight execution and Deep Learning training on Windows systems.
