An alternative method for highlighting detail. This technique compares a blurred copy of the source image (called an unsharp mask) to the original image, to identify edges and details which should be sharpened.

  • Preset: Choose from a variety of built-in presets, each of which gives you a predefined set of values for the effect controls. Presets can be used as-is, or as a starting point for further adjustments.
  • Radius: The radius of the blur used to generate the unsharp mask. Higher values limit the effect to larger details within the image.
  • Amount: Specifies how much sharpening is applied to the image. Oversharpening can negatively impact image quality, so it is important to adjust the amount based on the resolution of the image and the amount of sharpening required.
  • Threshold: The minimum amount of contrast which will be used to identify edges. Low values are good for general sharpening, but higher values can be useful for adding more contrast or punch to the image.
