Functions in a similar way to a standard glow but affects dark areas rather than light areas.

  • Intensity: Adjusts the strength of the glow.
  • Threshold: Sets how bright a pixel has to be for the glow to be applied. At low thresholds, the glow will only appear on the darkest parts of the layer. Raising the threshold will include progressively brighter areas in the glow.
  • Radius: Alters the size of the glow, and thereby the softness of the glow’s edge.
  • Direction: Select the direction(s) in which the glow is calculated.
    • Horizontal & Vertical: Glow is calculated both horizontally and vertically. This is the most common option.
    • Horizontal: Glow is only calculated horizontally.
    • Vertical: Glow is only calculated vertically.

Per Channel Intensity

These controls allow you to control how each color channel of the image is affected by the glow darks effect, and thus alter the color of the glow.

  • Red: Positive values increase the red in the glow. Negative values decrease the red, adding cyan.
  • Green: Positive values increase the green in the glow. Negative values decrease the green, adding magenta.
  • Blue: Positive values increase the blue in the glow. Negative values decrease the blue, adding yellow.
