6.23.3. Speed

Changes the playback speed of the layer.

*The speed effect does not change the duration of the layer on the timeline. If you reduce the speed of the layer you will not be able to see any frames which are not played before the end of the layer.

*Basic speed changes are better handled using the Rate Stretch tool or the Speed/Duration option on the timeline. See Refining Your Edit for more details.

• Speed: Specify the playback speed. A value of 1.00 is normal playback speed. Values between 0.00 and 1.00 slow the clip down. Values above 1.00 speed the clip up. Negative values play the clip in reverse.

*Note that the Speed effect does not work for general reversal of clips, since by default the value is set at the first frame of the clip, and there are no frames before the first frame with which to generate reverse playback. Negative values only work for reversing a clip midway through playback, using keyframes.
