All entities in a Cubix model are part of a consolidation path. That consolidation path consists of one or more input type entities and one or more consolidated entities. It may also include elimination type entities.

But what if you want to consolidate your data in a number of different ways? You may need one structure that reflects your management consolidation and another that reflects a legal consolidation. This is where multiple consolidation paths come into play.

With multiple paths, each path includes the same input type entities but has its own consolidated and elimination entities. So the same underlying entity data can be consolidated in different ways, such as in the below example.

Alternate Consolidation Paths

Adding Paths

The first step is quite straightforward. Select the Paths option from the Advanced menu and add or insert the additional paths required, up to a maximum of 10, giving each one a meaningful name.

Once the path has been added, you must return to the original Entity dimension and add the necessary consolidated and elimination entities for the new path and make sure each input type entity has been assigned the appropriate parent from the new path.
