Data can be entered into Cubix by typing a value directly into a cell on a browser sheet. As soon as you press Enter, the value you typed is sent to the database and if the browser is set to auto-calculate, it will refresh any affected calculated values.

Entering values to a range

When pressing enter on a single value, that piece of data is submitted directly to the database. However, some Excel functions relating to entering and editing values behave slightly differently in that the changes will occur on the face of the spreadsheet but will not automatically update the Cubix database. In particular, when you paste values onto a browser sheet, they are initially merely placed on the Excel sheet.

There are two Cubix functions, Set Range and Empty Range which are used to handle this situation.

Set Range

To send a range of data into Cubix, highlight the range on the excel sheet and click the Set Range button.

Empty Range

The Delete key is another function that does not directly communicate with the underlying Cubix database. If you try to delete some values from the face of a browser using the Delete key, they will disappear from the sheet, but will not be removed from the database. The next time the browser is refreshed, the values will re-appear.

To remove values form the database, highlight the range on the excel sheet and click the Empty Range button.
